50 new roles at SMT in Galway headquarters will include state-of-the-art R&D and innovation centre.Sahajanand Medical Technologies(SMT)a leading medtech developer and manufacturer from India, is establishing its European headquarters in Galway, creating 50 jobs over the next five years.The investment will include a state-of-the-art Research, Development (R&D) and Innovation Centre.
SMT is the largest developer and manufacturer of minimally invasive coronary stent systems in India and supplies to around 60 countries in Europe, Asia, MENA and Latin America.
SMT has received numerous awards for its breakthrough innovations and quality, which have led to thinner and more flexible drug-eluting stents, with good long-term clinical results."We were pioneers among Indian medical device companies to identify tremendous value in investing in R&D,” said Gaurav Gel, SMT’s Western European head.
Established in 1998, SMT became the first indigenous player in India to successfully launch coronary stent.
