19 Jun 2007
The Royal Dublin Hotel, O'Connell Street, Dublin 1
Press Most Welcome: 9.30 - 10.30
Delegates from unemployed organisations and individual members from all over the country will meet tomorrow Wednesday, 20th June for the 19th Annual Delegate Conference of the Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed (INOU).
In 2007 the INOU celebrates its 20th anniversary and in honour of this event Mike Allen, General Secretary, The Labour Party, and former General Secretary of the INOU, will open the proceedings.
The Annual Delegate Conference presents affiliates of the organisation with an opportunity to discuss both issues of local concern and the implications of National developments. At the meeting delegates will discuss the draft Strategic Plan and the focus of the organisation's work for the next three years. A key focus of the organisation's work over the coming period will be seeking 'decent employment for all'.
The motions to the governance will call for the elimination of long-term unemployment; improvement in public services; and the development of constructive responses to the issues of lifelong learning and activation.
