Unemployment Rate Highest its been since September 2003

According to the CSO's first Quarterly National Household Survey(QNHS) for 2007 there are 96,200 unemployed: representing a rate of 4.4%. Every month when the CSO issue the latest Live Register figures they adjust the QNHS unemployment rate to give what they call the Standardised Unemployment Rate. For June 2007 this SUR now stands at 4.6% - the highest it's been since September 2003.
So what is the Live Register figure for June 2007? The Seasonally Adjusted figure stands at 163,400, which is up 3,600 on last month, and up 3,300 on June 2006. The increase is spread almost 50/50 between men and women with an increase of 1,700 for men and 1,900 for women.
