Unemployment continues to rise

Over the past number of years the Live Register has increased over the summer months and then drifted down to where it began the year. However, 2007 is proving to be different. According to today's figures the seasonally adjusted Live Register stands at 164,200, which is up 4.9% on the beginning of the year. September's figure is also up 2,200 on the month of August and 8,400 on September 2006.
