Live Register at 171,800

The December 2007 Live Register figures issued today by the CSO show a year-on-year increase in the seasonally adjusted figure of 9.6%. The figure of 171,800 is up 1.2% on the previous month of November: a month that showed the highest figure in the Live Register since March 2004.

Given the predictions of a slow down in the construction industry it will come as no surprise that most of the increase in the Live Register figures are male - 1,900 in comparison to 200 females.

In terms of the regions the CSO release seasonally unadjusted figures and these show an increase of 5.4% on the previous month with the highest increase in the Mid-West region (7.7%) and the smallest increase in the Dublin region (4%).
