INOU Annual Delegate Conference Update 2008

On Wednesday 28th May, Rotimi Adebari, Mayor of Portlaoise and Vice-Chair of the INOU opened the organisation's Annual Delegate Conference for 2008 in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise.
At the ADC, delegates discussed a range of issues including: childcare; welfare-to-work and working-for-welfare debates; education and training opportunities and challenges. Amongst the topics covered in the motions passed by the Conference the Government was called on to:
- Respond more rapidly to the education, training and employment needs of unemployed people and others who have lost their jobs;
- Respond to the needs of people who found employment through self-employment through reduction in the qualifying period for access to training and supports open to unemployed people;
- Provide adequate resources and leadership to realise integrated service delivery.
