What is Building Futures?

The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed (INOU) is delivering a programme to enable people acquire qualifications in training and peer education. The programme is designed to help participants develop a career using their life experience and skills to guide others into education and training. The programme will also develop the capacities of local communities.

Building Futures will run 3 programmes over a three year period with each programme catering for 15 participants. Each programme runs over a 12 month period and involves a range of FETAC modules from levels 5-6, building towards a major FETAC award. The programme will also involve relevant workplace internships to give participants an opportunity to develop the core skills required to become an effective peer educator.

The INOU will seek to generate durable employment, self-employment and further education outcomes for their participants as well as benefits at community level.

The primary aim of Building Futures is that it will lead to employment, self-employment or further training or education for participants and will also increase the expertise available to community and voluntary organisations at a local level.

Building Futures is supported by the Mount Street Trust, through the Mount Street Trust Employment Initiative. Building Futures is also a Local Training Initiative funded by FAS. CLICK HERE
