Your Rights at Work

This training course has been developed as an integral part of a wider range of training services provided by the INOU which are designed to meet the practical, but essential, needs of information workers, service providers and service users alike.

The last few years have seen very significant changes in employment law and the role that employment plays in society. These intrinsic changes encompass a wider range of issues inclusive of the nature of work, the fluidity of work patterns and attitudinal changes of both employers and employees to work itself.

In providing Welfare to Work/Rights at Work information and advocacy services, it is necessary that information workers and service providers are both fully aware of, and understand, the varied and complex issues associated with work.

The aim of this course is to provide participants with basic information on key issues of a persons Rights at Work. It provides an overview of current statutory employment entitlements and focuses on specific areas of interest to information workers, service providers and their clients - both employed and unemployed.

The overall purpose of this training course is to ensure that information and advocacy services provide the user with a clear and concise understanding of their statutory rights under law, and have the ability to assist the user in pursuing those rights.

At the end of the course we are confident that participants will have gained a greater understanding of a persons Rights at Work. Equally, we are confident that participants will be able to develop and improve the level and quality of services in their organisation.
