Recognising Ability
This training course has been developed as part of a Combat Poverty Agency funded project on barriers to employment experienced by Travellers, Refugees & Asylum Seekers and people with Disabilities.
The training course is an integral part of a wider range of training services provided by the INOU that are designed to meet the practical needs of information providers and service providers alike.
The training pack is divided into two component sections. The first provides an insight into these groups and addresses their general status and entitlements. The second section focuses on the barriers faced by these groups and offers a practical framework in which service based initiatives and solutions can be implemented to support the design and delivery of services.
At the end of the course we are confident that participants will have gained a greater understanding of the challenges facing these three groups in accessing Welfare to Work services. We are equally confident that participants will return to their organisations with the ability to review existing services and implement appropriate initiatives to support and develop those services.
The objective of this training course is to promote awareness on the Welfare to Work needs of Travellers, Refugees & Asylum Seekers and people with Disabilities.
This course will also empower service providers with the capacity to identify the service needs of the three communities of interest and develop appropriate, and inclusive, responses to meet those needs in the provision of information and Welfare to Work services.
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
1. Identify the Welfare to Work needs of members of the three communities of
interest
2. Identify the service requirements of members of three communities of interest
3. Understand the needs of these user groups at first contact
4. Understand the objectives of delivery of service to these user groups
5. Generate greater awareness of the barriers facing members of the three communities of interest
6. Identify how their organisations can develop their services to support the Welfare to Work needs of the three communities of interest.
