Train the Trainer

Date: Beginning March 15th and March 16th
Time: 10am - 4pm 2 days a month over a six month period
Place: INOU, Araby House, North Richmond Street, Dublin 1

Fee: €500

This FETAC Train the Trainer Level 6 course is for anyone who wishes to learn or improve training techniques and increase confidence in their training ability while gaining a recognised academic qualification.
The course will equip those who are considering training as a career option with the skills, knowledge and confidence to effectively, design, develop, deliver and evaluate training programmes. You will learn new skills and ideas through both theoretical and practical means. This course will have a particular focus on delivering suitable training to vulnerable groups.
Upon successful completion of the course participants will have a greater understanding of the specific training needs of particular groups and how to meet those needs. Participants will receive a FETAC Level 6 award that is a recognised training qualification but also by national agencies such as FÁS.

Course Itinerary

Theory of training & adult learning:

  • Various concepts of training and education.
  • Awareness of the principles and tactics of adult learning.
  • Different learning styles and learning outcomes.

The role of the trainer:

  • Different training styles
  • How to deal with challenging attitudes and behaviours.
  • Discovering your own needs as a trainer.

A breakdown of training needs & programme design:

  • How to identify and analyse training requirements.
  • How to construct a training programme.
  • How to identify and set out training goals.

Preparing for training delivery:

  • In depth guidelines into the planning process.
  • How to create interesting and relevant exercises.
  • Tips on preparation of training tools, visual aids etc.

Delivery & assessment:

  • Establishment and maintenance of a positive learning environment.
  • Learn diverse training strategies

Evaluation of training:

  • Evaluate learner progress against the programme goals.
  • Gathering input from learners
