Attended on the day by Robbie and Gerry the event was extremely busy with a large number of queries presented to the INOU stand ranging from appeals to work and education supports and everything in between. We were kept busy throughout the day and some of the contacts have been ongoing since. We brought along a large number of copies of Working For Work and handed out all of them. The event was very well attended and organized.

Ballymun event run by Intreo in the Ballymun Civic Centre on Thursday September 21 st

The Welfare Rights Section was also at an Intreo organised Jobfair in Ballymun in mid-September. It was a very well organised day with hundreds of jobseekers through the doors of the Ballymun Civic Centre. The venue was really big, bright and spacious and made for a welcoming atmosphere at the event. There were dozens of stalls ranging from local CE schemes to larger employers like Tesco. The welfare rights section fielded many queries on the day about welfare, training and community employment. It shows the value of the service we provide that we are a key facet of these events and Welfare For Work is much sought after by people on other stalls.

Roma and Traveller Employment and Education event in Kildare Town on Thursday September 28 th

Robbie and Gerry went along to the event organised by the Kildare Leader Partnership. It was well attended and there were stands from Intreo, Citizens Information, The Office of the Ombudsman and several training and employment groups.

The Ombudsman Ger Deery was also in attendance, and he gave a short talk about what his office does and a brief description of how the appeals process works and their involvement in it.

We handed out many copies of the 29 th edition of Working for Work and engaged with a number of service users regarding Social Welfare issues and how taking up work, education or a place on CE might affect their payments.
