The Department of Social Protection runs the JobsIreland.ie website as part of the  Public Employment Service. The website enables jobseekers to search for jobs, to create a profile to match their skills, and experience with available jobs; and for employers to advertise jobs for free.

There is a video tutorial section which shows jobseekers and employers how to use the relevant sections of the website. Videos range from how to register and use the site, to resources for training. Access to this section can be found at the bottom of the About dropdown menu. There are also a wide array of resources for both jobseekers and employers on the website.

The service is backed by staff who are available Monday to Friday 9-5 via phone call or email. They also regularly update the website’s social media pages with advice, jobs, and upcoming events. They offer help in both use of the website and creation of CVs for Jobseekers, and help for employers in promoting jobs and using jobseeker profiles to match their requirements to jobseekers registered on the website.

For Jobseekers looking to sign up and use the JobsIreland.ie website, a MyGov.ie account is required. To do this a jobseeker can either go to MyGov.ie and sign up there or link to the website while registering interest for a job, at which time a prompt will link through to the MyGov.ie website. There are two levels of account on MyGov.ie, JobsIreland.ie only requires a basic MyGov.ie account which does not require a user’s PPSN.

Once signed up to My Gov.ie, jobseekers can store their CV and register interest for jobs through the website. These jobs can be found through the Search for your next job page which features a jobs search engine. The search engine allows jobseekers to refine their search with keywords, location, and a dropdown for type of employment. This search can be used without signing up to MyGov.ie, and positions will often include alternative contact details, but signing up the website allows for a simpler application process.

When applying for jobs, gender and other private information is not shared with employers, though contact information will be displayed on a jobseeker’s profile unless they specifically select not to display that information.

For jobseekers who feel they may need experience in a sector before they can apply for a full-time position, the website hosts Community Employment and Work Placement Employment Placement Programme positions that may be of interest. In addition, the website allows Jobseekers to search specifically for these kinds of placements by selecting them in the vacancy type dropdown on the search for your next job page. As of yet the website does not have a separate category for Tús positions.

The website also features resources for jobseekers, ranging from information on employment supports and Intreo services, to tips and advice for job seeking, and information on training. The training section contains information on training options including a number of free online resources such as the SOLAS eCollege, Accenture training and LinkedIn trainings. Other trainings are available at minimum cost to jobseekers. There is information on various back to education schemes and state supplied training and education options, which are broken down by sector to make it easier for jobseekers to find courses most relevant to their chosen career path.
