The Poet's Corner

Poetry

During the current crisis many people have become more creative as a way of dealing with the challenges facing them, others are using the time available to them to explore new interests, some people are finally getting around to doing the painting /writing /knitting they always meant to pursue, while other people have always been creative. One such person is our colleague Leanne, who is sharing two of her poems with the readers of the INOU’s e-bulletin.

Leanne’s poems

Been in prison,
Is not really living,
Up at 8 for my phy,
I don’t want to live this lie.

Help me ease this pain,
So I pop a dalmaine,
I’m tired of this life,
I’m ready to fight.

I want to live,
I don’t want to die,
It is my right,
Now I shut my eyes and sleep tight.

Around my vein the heroin flows,
Nobody really knows,
Afraid to close my eyes,
Start believing my owns lies,

Somebody help me please,
I WANT TO LIVE!!!

The Hangover Sufferer’s Prayer

Oh Holy God!
My banging head!
Ohhh, do me a favour Lord,
Strike me dead.
I look to those with bloodshot eyes,
For I over socialise,
Yes fall from grace last night,
Last night did I,
And drank and drank Lord, the whole pub dry,
And now my mouth taste like a sewer
And my lucid moments get fewer and fewer.

Oh hear me Dear Lord as I pray for a cure,
And a way to resist the drink and its lure.
And I will never, ever, ever drink again
Swear by the power of God,
Amen.
