INOU e-Bulletin - June 2021 - Issue 45

eb45-04

Welcome to issue 45 of the INOU e-Bulletin!

In this edition we will still be dealing with the effects of Covid-19. We have a piece which will breakdown what is going to happen with the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) and the alternative options which may suit recipients better as the PUP is reduced. Another piece will cover the government’s Economic Recovery Plan as it relates to employment, and how the government intends to get people back to work post-covid. We will also be looking at Remote Working, how it may become a permanent fixture of Irish employment, and the challenges and opportunities that presents.

We have a piece on the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality which will breakdown the recommendations which which were made on social protection. We will be breaking down some of the government’s upcoming strategies with pieces on the Ten Year Adult Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy Strategy, and the Our Rural Future strategy for rural development. We also have a piece on the Decent Work Project which we carried out last year in consultation with our affiliates.

We hear from EmployAbility as they celebrate 20 years of helping people with additional support needs to live and earn a living independently. We also hear from EmployAbility Cavan Monaghan who are celebrating the launch of their wonderful new website which will make it easier for people in Cavan and Monaghan to get in contact and get help. We also hear from the European Anti-Poverty Network Ireland who have also contributed a piece on the worrying levels of material deprivation and poverty in Ireland.

The Scheme to Support National Organisations is funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Rural and Community Development.
