Welcome to issue 50 of the INOU e-Bulletin!

In this issue we open with an article on the recent work done on the INOU offices in Refurbishment of Araby House. We breakdown the key statistics of Labour Force Survey 2021. We turn a critical eye on recent decisions concerning Jobseeker’s payment in Jobseekers Payments Through An Post, and we take a look at the cost of living crisis in the Rising Cost of Living.

We hear from EDIC Longford on their social enterprise in ReVamp 3R Store Longford, and Inner City Enterprise on the Dublin City Social Enterprise Awards along with the awards’ fantastic winners in Dublin City Social Enterprise Awardees 2021.

We have a breakdown of the Inter-Departmental Group report on the most appropriate organisational arrangements for the Community Employment Programme in Community Employment IDG Report. We have an article on the Commission on Tax and Welfare public consultation and a summary of the INOU’s submission to Ireland’s National Reform Programme submission to the EU.

We discuss the Supplementary Welfare Allowance and how it can be used to bridge the gap between welfare payment and payment from employment in Payment Pending Wages. We also discuss our JobsWatch page, and finally have an article on a variety of depression called Alexithymia which may act as a barrier to employment in Should Long Term Unemployment Come Under the Remit of the HSE?

The Scheme to Support National Organisations is funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Rural and Community Development.
