Learning Hub Mini Recruitment Event

mini_recruitment_fair_1On Wednesday 24 th January, 2024 staff in the INOU Learning Hub were delighted to host a pilot mini recruitment event for learners on the Building Futures and Shaping Futures Local Training Initiatives. The event was organised in collaboration with Josephine and Bernadetta of the Employer Relations Unit with the Department of Social Protection on Pearse Street, Dublin.

The day was a huge success with learners getting to hear about some of the fantastic schemes and options available to them from the Department of Social Protection when they move into employment. They also got to hear about potential work placement opportunities, employment opportunities and the recruitment process from Nicky in Carelink / Rehab, Natasha in Regatta and Jo & Evanna in Peter McVerry Trust. We were also very grateful to Wayne from LinkedIn for talking to the learners about the importance of creating a professional profile and the many valuable training opportunities available from LinkedIn.

During the presentations, learners were really enthusiastic and engaged; continually asking questions finding out more about the organisations and the possible employment opportunities available to them. There was still a great buzz around the building the following day, with learners chatting to each other about how much they got out of this event and how it opened their minds to areas of employment they may not have considered beforehand.

Due to its success, we would be delighted to host a similar event next year inviting even more employers to attend and discuss potential work placement/employment opportunities available to our learners.

We would again like to thank Nicky, Natasha, Jo, Evanna and Wayne for taking the time out of their busy schedules to join us at this event and for giving the learners such a fantastic insight into their organisations. Finally, a special thanks to Josephine and Bernadetta from Intreo, because none of this would have been possible without their support and collaboration over the last number of months.

Of course, we cannot forget our learners; you never let us down with your continued enthusiasm and dedication to the programmes and to the INOU – a massive thank you to each and every one of you.
