Shaping Futures Course (LTI)

Are you looking to upskill and return to work?

If so, Shaping Futures is an exciting Local Training Initiative (LTI) programme designed to give participants the necessary skill sets to take up employment or progress on to further education. These skill sets are essential in enabling you to thrive in any workplace.

This programme is delivered in collaborations with the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB).  Certification for this programme is certified through CDETB’s validation and quality assurance processes.

The Shaping Futures programme, now successfully entering its 7th year, is a QQI accredited programme with participants working towards a QQI Level 4 major award in Employment Skills. This course is targeted at people who have experienced long-term unemployment and who have the potential and desire to progress into employment or further education.

The course includes 9 modules, volunteer work and an 8-week workplace internships. While on the programme participants receive one to one support and guidance to help identify their ideal career path. 

Shaping Futures is a yearlong full-time programme which started on the 8th September 2025 and is delivered in our INOU Learning Hub, 88-90 Townsend Street, Dublin 2. 

Participant criteria:

Are you…

  • Experiencing unemployment?
  • In receipt of a social welfare payment?
  • In and out of work regularly?
  • Moving on from a scheme (C.E., J.I., C.S.P. or similar)?

AND

Do you…

  • Have good communication skills?
  • Reasonable literacy and I.T. skills?
  • Like working with people?
  • Have a good command of English?

If so, then this programme may be what you are looking for.

Cost

There is no cost to participate on the Shaping Futures Programme. While on the programme, if eligible, you will receive an ETB training allowance, meal allowance, and travel allowance, and your secondary social welfare payments will not be affected. We also offer canteen facilities which include free cereal and snacks.
