INOU e-Bulletin - April 2020 - Issue 41

Decent-Work-Workshop-Longford

Welcome to Issue 41 of the INOU e-Bulletin!

This issue features many articles framed within the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic, including pieces on the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment, the COVID-19 Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme, an analysis of the COVID-19 Unemployment Figures, and a piece on other relevant Social Welfare information in ‘COVID-19 and Jobseekers’. In ‘Unemployment and the next Government’ we look at what needs to happen to address the unemployment challenge that will face a lot of people.

We also have an article from our Training section discussing the transition to online learning for our Local Training Initiatives Building Futures and Shaping Futures , along with another piece about the out-of-office delivery of our Welfare Rights and Information Service. There is an article detailing the recent ‘Getting through COVID-19 Together’ campaign from the Department of Health and the supports it offers. A very positive development for the INOU, gaining charitable status, is also discussed in a contribution from the INOU Co-ordinator. Also featured is a piece on the recent developments of the soft-skills training platform SkillsMatch, in which INOU is a pilot partner. And finally, the INOU’s ‘Decent Work’ workshops, which were run as part of work funded by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission, are discussed.

The Scheme to Support National Organisations is funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Rural and Community Development.
