The Vodafone ESB partnership Siro has doubled its workforce as it looks to ramp up the construction of its fibre-optic broadband network.Siro said it will spend €150m on the roll-out of the new network in 2017, which will support 500,000 premises in 50 towns nationwide. The company will add an extra 60 staff over the next 12 months.
Siro has formed partnerships with BT, Carnsore Broadband, Digiweb, Vodafone, and WestNet. It is expected to add more partners in 2017 to strengthen its position in wholesale broadband.
Siro ceo Sean Atkinson said he was delighted that the company had outgrown its old premises.
The company's new offices in Carrickmines, Dublin, were opened by jobs minister Mary Mitchell O'Connor yesterday. The minister praised Siro's efforts in Skibbereen where it supplies 1GB broadband to the Ludgate Hub, a business centre in west Cork.
