Data management firm Veritas has big plans for Dublin, starting with a new R&D centre that will lead to a major jobs boost for the capital.

Veritas Technologies – a software company specialising in multi-cloud data management – has launched a new R&D centre in Ballycoolin, Dublin.

The company said that the centre will play a major part in its strategic plan to expand into the EMEA region and will lead to the creation of 250 jobs by 2019.

Veritas added that by the end of next year, it plans to have 130 staff hired, with opportunities expected to range from new graduates to senior-level executives.

The jobs are expected to cover areas such as multi-cloud engineering and support cross-functional roles, including product and programme management. They will be geared towards supporting new products, services and applications.

Veritas offers specialised data compliance technology, enabling businesses to gain greater control of their data ahead of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force in May of next year.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’re actively recruiting innovative talent at all levels in Ireland to help us transform how customers can harness the power of their data in a multi-cloud world,” said Bill Coleman, chief executive officer of Veritas.

“Our latest research shows that 56pc of organisations have a cloud-first mentality, but are struggling with how to protect their data, gain visibility and extract maximum value while staying compliant. This new centre is going to focus on solving these challenges and we’re delighted to work with the IDA Ireland to attract top talent into the Veritas family.”
