VideoDoc has announced that former Tánaiste and Minister for Health Mary Harney has been appointed its chair as well as the addition of 30 new jobs.

VideoDoc has announced that 30 new jobs will be created over the next 12 months at its base in Sandyford. The announcement comes after the telemedicine company received €2.5m in funding from investors which allowed for the expansion.

VideoDoc hopes to recruit 30 new GPs to support and expand their online consultation service, as well as to maintain the average wait time for an appointment which currently stands at two to three minutes.

Dr Conor O’Hanlon, a founding member of the Irish College of General Practitioners and a GP himself with 37 years’ experience, was also announced as the company’s new medical director.

VideoDoc currently partners with various health providers across Ireland such as VHI, Beaumont Hospital, Group Schemes in Ireland and Clanwilliam Healthcare. Outside of Ireland, it also partners with the UK’s NHS.

The company offers an online face-to-face doctor consultation service via web and mobile (iOS and Android). Patients can create an account with VideoDoc and be connected to a registered GP for a consultation, with prices starting at €30.
